SAFN Digital Flexible Access Multiplexer

The training course is focused on system architecture, overall system operational functionalities, troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge. It is specifically indicated for engineers and technical workers in charge of SAFN system operations and maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS: basic electronics  and  pc knowledge (file management,  Ms Windows operating system, web browser).

NUMBER OF ATTENDANTS: groups of 5 people are suggested.

DOCUMENTATION: attendant will receive slides pack and technical documentation in electronic format.

TRAINING PROGRAM:

DAY 1 – Introduction and general overview

• General system introduction
• Main features and performances: SDH and PDH concepts
• Link typologies Protections Synchronization Loop-back Service networks
• Management System

DAY 2: PDH equipment

• Architecture: HW/SW descriptions concerning cards, interfaces, HW user facilities of aggregate and tributary cards in PDH application.
• Aggregate:  2xSHDSL. (2 SHDSL interfaces), 2TLFO, 4L2M Tributary: 2N64-V11. (2 Nx64 Kbit/s V11 / V35 / V36 interfaces (Nx64K)), 4DF64-G703 (4×64 Kbit/s co-directional G.703 interfaces, with E/M signalisation (DF64)), 5DCE-V28. (5 low speed data X.20bis/V.28 and X.21bis/V.28 interfaces (DCE-V28)), 8CLG. (8 speech 2/4 wires interfaces, with E/M signalization (CLG)), 10PLAT. (10 FXS (PLAT) interfaces), 10PLAC. (10 FXO (PLAC) interfaces), LAN-ETH. (1 Ethernet 10/100BT (ETH) interface and IP routing function)
• Application: PDH SAFN equipment applications examples.

DAY 3: SDH equipment

• Architecture: HW/SW descriptions concerning cards, interfaces, HW user facilities of cards in SDH application, STM 1/4, E1 mapper, GbE (future)
• Application: SDH SAFN equipment applications examples.

DAY 4: SAFN-PC configuration & maintenance tool

• Installation Procedure
• Offline and Online operating mode
• Creation, modification and verification of SAFN equipment parameters (PDH and/or PDH)
• main parameters description
• Equipment Configuration, Download & Upload procedure
• Main Diagnostic Functions description (Events Upload, Alarms acknowledgment)
• Configuration Exercises
• Practice use of SAFN_pc, configuring PDH-SAFN equipment or SDH-SAFN equipment
